A small studio building careful Shopify apps
Somix Lab makes apps for merchants who have been burned by the other kind — the ones that slow a storefront down, leave code in a theme after they are gone, and answer support with a macro.
How we work
We optimise for your page speed, not our convenience
The easy way to build a storefront widget is to have it call your own server on every page view. It is simpler, it is cheaper to develop, and it makes the merchant’s site slower every single time. We do the harder thing: the widget reads its configuration out of a Shopify metafield in Liquid and gets its products from Shopify’s CDN, so rendering it costs no request to us at all.
We do not touch your theme files
Everything ships as a theme app extension. No Asset API, no injected script tag, nothing written into your Liquid. Uninstalling actually removes the app from your storefront, rather than leaving you to hunt for what it left behind.
We store the least we can get away with
No customer names, emails, addresses or phone numbers, in any of our apps — even where Shopify would happily give them to us. What we do keep is written down in plain language with a retention period attached, and deleted when you ask.
A person answers your email
We are small enough that support is not a department, and we would rather fix a documentation page than answer the same question twice. If something in our docs is wrong or missing, telling us is genuinely useful.
